NASAA Urges Congress to Prioritize Capital Formation Policies That Protect Investors

WASHINGTON, D.C. – (March 25, 2025) – The North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) today announced that Amanda Senn, Director of the Alabama Securities Commission and NASAA Enforcement Section Co-Chair, will testify before the U.S. House Financial Services Committee on Tuesday, March 25.

The Committee’s hearing, entitled “Beyond Silicon Valley: Expanding Access to Capital Across America,” will start at 10 a.m. ET. Director Senn will share information on  the vital role state securities regulators play in facilitating small business capital formation and protecting main street investors across the country and will urge Congress not to weaken those critical efforts by preempting state authority.

As Director Senn will explain in her testimony, state securities regulators help ensure that capital is available for small businesses while protecting main street investors by  promoting responsible, transparent and compliant capital formation activities. Director Senn will emphasize that small businesses are harmed when investors do not trust the markets, and she will urge Congress “to embrace the vital and effective role that states play in capital formation and preserve the ability of states to oversee our local markets.”
