Welcome to NASAA’s Annual Public Policy Conference registration site. This year’s conference is designed to bring together securities regulators with securities law professionals, financial services industry representatives, consumer advocates and legislative and regulatory policy makers for an in-depth look at key public policy issues.
The conference opens with a luncheon and keynote address. The luncheon will be followed by two panel discussions, an ombudsman meeting and a reception. Panels will offer expert opinion and guidance on the regulatory reform debate with an emphasis on how smart regulation can strengthen the economy

Reining in Risk on Wall Street – Consensus is forming among policymakers that the ongoing economic crisis was deepened by excessive deregulation, which, in turn, allowed risk to run rampant in financial markets. A panel of experts from industry and academia will address how the inability of the private sector to provide systemic safety, coupled with weak federal oversight, demonstrates that deregulation is no longer a presumptive policy prescription to ensuring liquidity, stability and reliability to a well-functioning financial system.

What Regulatory Reform Means to Main Street Investors – As Congress debates the most significant changes in the regulatory structure of financial services in decades, a panel of experts will examine both the House and Senate reform packages with an eye toward determining how investors will benefit from the legislation and what is still needed from the perspective of state securities regulators.
