WASHINGTON, D.C. – (September 12, 2023) – The North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) announced the appointment of its new president, Claire McHenry, Deputy Director of the Nebraska Department of Banking and Finance Bureau of Securities, during the 2023 NASAA Fall Annual Meeting held September 10-12 in San Diego.

McHenry was elected as President-elect by NASAA members in 2022 and assumed her new role as the 2023-2024 NASAA President on September 12, 2023. She succeeds NASAA Past-President Andrew Hartnett, Deputy Commissioner of the Iowa Insurance Division.

“I am deeply honored to step into the role of NASAA’s president, a position that carries with it a profound responsibility to protect and serve Main Street investors,” said McHenry. “As we look ahead to the coming year, I am eager to collaborate with my colleagues on the issues that impact communities throughout North America.”

McHenry also announced NASAA’s 2023-2024 Board of Directors. Joining her are:

NASAA members also voted to adopt amendments to four NASAA statements of policy identified by the Corporation Finance Section Committee and Corporation Finance Policy Project Group. The proposed revisions have proceeded through internal and public comment periods.

The amendments emphasize conformity to plain English style and incorporation of streamlined introductory language; maintaining consistency between the Uniform Securities Acts; removal of definitions from the statements of policy and incorporation of definitions into the NASAA Statement of Policy Regarding Corporate Securities Definitions (the “Definitions SOP”); and improved clarity and ease of use.

  • NASAA Statement of Policy Regarding Debt Securities.
  • NASAA Statement of Policy Regarding the Impoundment of Proceeds
  • NASAA Statement of Policy Regarding Options and Warrants
  • NASAA Statement of Policy Regarding Promotional Shares
