WASHINGTON (June 16, 2022) – The following is a statement from Melanie Senter Lubin, President of the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) and Maryland Securities Commissioner on the confirmations by the U.S. Senate of Mark Uyeda and Jaime Lizárraga to serve on the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission:

We look forward to working with Commissioner Uyeda, Commissioner Lizárraga, their fellow commissioners, and Chair Gensler on our shared goals of protecting investors and ensuring the integrity of the securities markets.”

NASAA’s membership consists of the securities administrators in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the 13 provinces and territories of Canada, and the country of Mexico. NASAA members are responsible for administering state and provincial securities laws that both serve to protect investors from fraud while also providing regulatory frameworks through which businesses can raise capital.
