Veteran Communicator to Lead Communications Team for State and Provincial Securities Regulators

WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 5, 2021) – The North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) announced today that Jeanne Hamrick has joined the organization as its Director of Communications. She will report to NASAA Executive Director Joseph Brady.

“Jeanne brings a strong communications background to NASAA and I am pleased to have someone with her experience and skill guiding NASAA’s communications team,” Brady said.

Hamrick joins NASAA from CFP Board of Standards where she served as Director of External Communications. Previously, Hamrick held communications positions with Freddie Mac, the American Red Cross and operated her own communications practice.

“On behalf of NASAA’s Board of Directors, I welcome Jeanne to the NASAA team and look forward to her work in this key position on behalf of state and provincial securities regulators and investors throughout North America,” said Lisa A. Hopkins, NASAA President and West Virginia Senior Deputy Securities Commissioner.

“I’m excited to work with NASAA’s leadership and members and promoting the exceptional work being done by state and provincial securities regulators to further NASAA’s critically important mission to support investor protection,” Hamrick said.

At CFP Board, Hamrick was responsible for directing the organization’s corporate external communications efforts and served as communications lead with a coalition of financial planning organizations. Previously, in her role as senior manager of public relations for Freddie Mac, Hamrick created and implemented communications strategy for the organization’s single-family division. Prior to joining Freddie Mac, she served as senior manager of media relations for the American Red Cross national headquarters where she developed and executed communications and media strategy, and served as a corporate spokesperson for the organization’s mission-driven programs and disaster responses.

She also operated her own consultancy where she held a diverse client portfolio and provided communications and public affairs services, including crisis communications and media training. Earlier in her career, Hamrick served as Director of Communications for Goodwill Industries International and worked as a broadcast journalist. She is a guest lecturer at the American University School of Communications and serves on the Communications Committee of the National Press Club.

NASAA also announced that Bob Webster has been named Senior Director of Communications and will serve in that capacity until his retirement in July. Webster joined NASAA in 2003. “It will be difficult for all of us to see Bob leave after 18 years of dedicated, excellent service, but this will be a new beginning and journey for him as well as us and we wish him the very best as he moves forward,” Hopkins said.
