WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 3, 2020) – The North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) announced today that veteran Wisconsin securities regulator Leslie M. Van Buskirk has been appointed to the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Investor Advisory Committee to represent the views of state securities regulators.

Van Buskirk is the Administrator of the Division of Securities within the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions. In addition, she serves as a member of NASAA’s Board of Directors and previously served as chair of NASAA’s Broker-Dealer Section. She replaces Iowa Deputy Insurance Commissioner Craig Goettsch, who has represented state securities regulators on the committee since its inception in 2012.

“NASAA is honored to continue serving as a voice for Main Street investors on the Investor Advisory Committee. I want to thank Craig for his excellent representation on the committee and congratulate Leslie on her appointment,” said Lisa A. Hopkins, NASAA President and Senior Deputy West Virginia Securities Commissioner.

The Investor Advisory Committee was established by Section 911 of the Dodd-Frank Act to advise the SEC on regulatory priorities, the regulation of securities products, trading strategies, fee structures, the effectiveness of disclosure, and on initiatives to protect investor interests, promote investor confidence and the integrity of the securities marketplace.

NASAA is the oldest international organization devoted to investor protection. Its membership consists of the securities administrators in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada and Mexico.
