WASHINGTON (August 7, 2020) – The following is a statement from Christopher W. Gerold, President of the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) and Chief of the New Jersey Bureau of Securities, on the  confirmations by the U.S. Senate of Hester Peirce and Caroline Crenshaw to serve on the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission:

“On behalf of state and provincial securities regulators, I congratulate Hester Peirce and Caroline Crenshaw on their confirmations to serve on the SEC. We look forward to working with Commissioners Crenshaw and Peirce, their fellow commissioners and Chairman Clayton on our shared goal of protecting Main Street investors and the integrity of the securities markets they depend upon for financial security.”

NASAA’s membership consists of the securities administrators in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the provinces and territories of Canada, and Mexico. NASAA members are responsible for administering state and provincial securities laws that both serve to protect investors from fraud while also providing regulatory frameworks through which businesses can raise capital.
