On September 10, 2007, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission hosted the second annual Seniors Summit, featuring the leadership of the North American Securities Administrators Association, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, the AARP and the SEC.During the summit, securities regulators released a joint report summarizing the results of their examinations of "free lunch" investment seminars.
The Summit is a testament to the fact that senior investors remain a target for unscrupulous sales persons -- and that further unified action is necessary to punish and deter the wrongdoing.
