WASHINGTON (June 2, 2005)—The following is a statement from North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) President and New Jersey Securities Bureau Chief Franklin L. Widmann on the announcement that Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman William Donaldson will resign effective June 30.

“Chairman William Donaldson has worked hard to restore investor confidence and return stability to the securities industry and the markets. As the organization of state and provincial securities regulators, NASAA shares his commitment to the integrity of the markets and investor protection. We wish Chairman Donaldson well in his future endeavors.”

NASAA is the oldest international organization devoted to investor protection. Its membership consists of the securities administrators in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the provinces and territories of Canada, and Mexico.
