WASHINGTON (January 12, 2006) —The following is a statement from North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) President and Wisconsin Securities Administrator Patricia D. Struck on the election today of Mary L. Schapiro to succeed Robert R. Glauber as Chairman and CEO of the NASD effective December 2006.

“NASAA sincerely appreciates Chairman Glauber’s leadership and accessibility during his tenure at the NASD and we look forward to continuing this positive relationship with Vice Chairman Schapiro as we address areas of common interest, including variable and equity-indexed annuities. State securities regulators share her commitment to investor protection and the integrity of the markets. We wish both Chairman Glauber and Vice Chairman Schapiro well in their future endeavors and responsibilities.”
