ANNOUNCEMENTMinutes from the Ombudsman Meeting dated October 1st, 2007NASAA's long-standing Ombudsman Program is designed to provide securities industry representatives and other interested parties with a neutral forum to discuss issues or concerns regarding NASAA and state securities regulation. It is the objective of the NASAA Ombudsman to open up channels of communication and to foster relationships with securities industry representatives.
The NASAA Ombudsman serves as a resource to industry and stands ready to assist in the resolution of state securities-related issues. The NASAA Ombudsman is available to discuss matters in a confidential manner and to help assist with the resolution of these matters by identifying options for resolving the issue and/or by directing the issue to the appropriate party or office. Additionally, the NASAA Ombudsman can help provide guidance on recent developments, trends, issues and policies affecting state securities regulation.
The NASAA Ombudsman hosts open meetings twice a year with industry representatives during the NASAA Annual and Spring conferences. In addition to these regularly scheduled meetings, the NASAA Ombudsman is available to meet on an ad hoc basis throughout the year or as needed.
The current NASAA Ombudsman is Don B. Saxon, Commissioner of the Florida Office of Financial Regulation. Mr. Saxon was appointed Ombudsman in January, 2006, succeeding Christine A. Bruenn, then Commissioner of the Maine Department of Professional and Financial Regulation, who was appointed in September, 2005. Robert Lam, Pennsylvania Securities Commissioner, launched the Ombudsman program in the early 1990s and served until 2005.
